I'm a licensed lawyer and the principal lawyer/owner of Jen Chen Law. With over a decade of experience in Toronto's legal community, my practice covers real estate transactions, commercial leasing, corporate and commercial law, contract work, wills and powers of attorney, and notarizations.
Over the years, real estate and commercial leasing have become the areas where I'm most deeply rooted — and where clients most often seek me out — but whatever brings you through the door, you'll get the same care and attention across the board. Leasing in particular is something I've spent years refining. Whether I'm drafting a commercial lease from scratch or sitting across the table in a negotiation, I bring both precision and strategic thinking to every clause. My clients — landlords and tenants alike — know I'll protect their interests without losing sight of what a workable deal actually looks like.
That's something I believe in deeply: a good lawyer doesn't just tell you what you want to hear. A well-negotiated agreement rarely means a one-sided win — and if you work with me, you'll know I fought hard for you, and that when I say it's a fair result, I mean it.
Before starting my own firms, I worked at a downtown Toronto practice ranked among Canada's top 5 commercial real estate boutiques, and went on to gain extensive experience at one of Toronto's busiest residential real estate firms. That foundation shapes everything about how I work today. I later went on to co-found JDC Law LLP — a successful firm I led for nearly a decade. I also run a YouTube channel on the side focused on real estate and legal education for the Toronto community. A little about me: I was born into the Bai ethnic minority in China — a heritage I carry with quiet pride. Outside of work, you'll find me on the golf course, in a Pilates class, or doing absolutely nothing productive on the couch with my pets and a good show. No regrets.
